DELFF This master, born in Delft in 1580, was the son of the portrait-painter Jacob I Willemsz. He was apprenticed to his father, and became a master of the guild of St. Luke of his native town in 1613. In 1618 he married Gertruida Mierevelt, a daughter of the well-known portraitist. He died in 1638. Delff's large oeuvre consists of a series of portraits of princes, statesmen, soldiers, theologians, professors etc.
